Over the last few days, I have been uploading The entire Carl Albert State College Film program video library. Tedious work, but I really appreciated what I saw during the process. I noticed auteur theory and its very beginnings. Each  Director, even in learning his trade, Has a unique art style that transcends them. The beauty of the product of my work is the ease of access brought on by digitizing. I can only hope that they are preserved.

On the Way Up!

En route to the big audition! Headshots are waiting to be picked up, resume needs some tweaking, and I need to work on a voice and rhythm for a character, as well as learn a few lines if they expect a monologue. Cold reads are much scarier.

Shootings, and Their Aftermaths.

Film shootings. Nobody was hurt, but the makeup was rather convincing. I think the best part is that the house was trashed. before, during, and I'm not cleaning it up yet, so after. We picked a super busy week for this. Regardless, super happy with the work that got done. We won't be the guys who haven't started yet. Many many thanks to all who came in from out of town. Thank you for bearing with me. More special effects to be worked on today and tonight, so I'll likely update again. in the mean time, check out this nasty necrotized wound.

Pre-production Summary and Pics

I figured it was about time to show off some of the work going on behind the scenes. Preproduction is pretty important, as you never want to just jump in and start filming. Enormous amounts of time and effort are required to be sure your shoots go as smoothly as possible. I'd like to share with you my creative process. 

First, the great minds are all gathered in a private feed. The plot is given and feedback is considered.

The scenes are explained one by one on slides, then reordered as seen fit.

The script is then written in (somewhat) proper formatting.

The shotlist will be written up in an excel-like program, with timing and lines corresponding to their shots.

Storyboarding will then take place, and those images will be edited together into an animatic for clarity and recruiting purposes.

Actors love to see what they'll be doing before they do it.

These documents are all hardcopied and kept on location for the duration of the shoot, and any and all actors and crew are given copies of what they need for their part.

The Horror Film!

Our thematic criteria for this semester is urban myths and legends. The film is to be approximately 30 minutes. Our focus as a group will be a story about an unlicensed plastic surgeon who mangles and disfigures his clients. We are only two strong, so I'll be reaching outside of the group for actors and crew. Anyone with the time and skill is welcome. Step 1 is writing, storyboarding, and animatics. Anyone who would like to join the writing panel, submit some of your work and I will invite you onboard the drawing board. Anyone interested in acting or crew work, stay tuned. We will need an expert in makeup, and someone who is willing to learn how to work with liquid latex. Lighting will be crucial for this, so a tech would be appreciated.

The Truth about Pride and Projects

You won't always love what you've made. I know I've been burnt out since the music video. It happens. you do something you love, and you wear yourself out on it. The western did that to me. This project, the commercial, I let my opposite group member take the reins. It's funny, it meets all of the criteria, but it's just not mine. It's not my baby, y'know? So we finished it today, presenting Thursday, fine. I'm reluctant to upload. I feel like a pretentious movie star who doesn't want to talk about that one job. That one job that everyone wants to talk about. Oh well, I guess you get it all here at Ironic, the good, the bad, the ugly, and you get the chance to compare it all. It'll be there for you Thursday night.

Off to bed- rather, Algebra. Wish me luck. That double-double espresso should do the trick. That's 4 shots, by the way. I'm wired.
